alphacut 015 order now!
done in february 2010, black 12" vinyl, lind-green stencil-sprayed logo, limited to handnumbered 100 copies, including ten locked grooves a1concept one lyre bird c1cj weaver i'm melting
alphacut records is continuing its second wave of monthly vinyl releases, this time with a round of fresh blood for the drum&bass graves: two debuts!
concept one from france is guiding us back to the holy days of jungle, where breaks had that untouched feeling and every sound was just so lively.
cj weaver is hailing from the states with a glorious mixture of openmindedness, experimental sounds and deep grooves. this is not minimal drum&bass, it's just an unique way of dropping ill tribal dancing pearls. let it roll!
alphacut 014 only one copy left!
done in january 2010, black 12" vinyl, green fluorescent stencil-sprayed logo, limited to handnumbered 100 copies, including twentyone locked grooves a1martsman periphereia c1paranoid society crp thm
once again martsman proves that he is the one and only master of wobble bass, arty farty synth bleeps and beats that are as dry as dead dingo’s donger. periphereia just perfectly fills the gap between experimental sound design and pure floor rockage. paranoid society from estonia teamed up with lxc in his dub chamber last summer and come up with this dutty heavy apache roller they call the crp thm - twisted soundscapes predicting the future.
alphacut 013 only one copy left!
done in december 2009, black 12" vinyl, yellow fluorescent stencil-sprayed logo, limited to handnumbered 100 copies, including eight locked grooves a1mze taorrizm c1unquote ugly face of war
it has been quite silent round mze from leipzig, who did bad smashers on several early alphacut releases. his new tune proves he's just as dark as ever and even more bashing. you better take cover when taorrizm drops!
unquote from russia also jumps on the bandwagon with an impressive piece of wild percussions and merciless bassdrums. check the upcoming stuff he is doing with his sidekick mr sizef at imprints like hospital and 31 records.
alphacut 012
done in november 2009, black 12" vinyl, orange fluorescent stencil-sprayed logo, limited to handnumbered 100 copies, including twelve locked grooves a1macc boomer martsman remix c1reactiv asylum

alphacut 009
done in december 2008, green 12" vinyl with transparent, white andor black details, including nine locked grooves a1randomer down in the woods b1paranoid society hi resolution
engine, engine, number nine. back on the track with the third alphacut in 2008, we proudly present two a sides pushing a retro futuristic issue with all its ambivalences but also with some great deals in common: the futurethinking, backwardlooking alphacut 009. once again we share fresh artists with you, not only both having their debut on alphacut, but also paranoid society celebrate their first vinyl release ever. guaranteed fresh & spicy, made to drop you back down in the woods!
alphacut 008
done in september 2008, white 12" vinyl with yellow and black details, including eleven locked grooves a1line 47 thousand year descent a2bop noosphere b1throttler black highway b2mendelayev i'm zombie
to push the boundaries of what was known as drum&bass, was alphacut's primary aim when it was founded six years ago. this time it seems as if this goal has finally been reached: four playable uptempo smashers by promising artists from all over this crazy little planet. each one running his totally unique business, though all songs feel united by their obvious intention to expand the one they used to call the drum&bass. everything is possible: hard hittin electronica, deep darkstep and edgy drumfunk. this is it, welcome 2008!
"fast and dancefloor compatible, but a great mental movie at the same time. typical alphacut" (kreuzer)
alphacut 007
done in april 2008, limited to 777, white 12" vinyl, including three locked grooves a1alpha omega concrete pillows b1sumone rhythm machine b2lxc lock in
at a time when everything feels said about upfront drum&bass tunes and all so-called heads turn back to deeper shades of bass like dubstep, even alphacut headquarters' feel like its time for some really meditative 180bpm breakbeat rides, walls of dub and - of course - subbass!
"if there hasn't been a label like alphacut yet, one should go and invent it. it is providing drum&bass and darkjungle with innovation and high quality and will probably save the genre from decay somewhen." (raveline)
"very nice release of odd drum and bass. that sumone tune is especially deep!" (c64)
"alphacut 7 is real dope! the cutting is damn loud, i played it yesterday in a small private party and almost destroyed the pa!" (fred e.)
alphacut 006
done in may 2007, limited to 666, white 12" vinyl, including six locked grooves a1mze blut a2nalpas oe part 1 b1martsman jump funk b2nalpas oe part 2
without hesitating, this next alphacut release is getting things started right away with mze's dancefloor bomb 'blut', followed by martsman's probably catchiest ear worm for summer 2007.
on top of this double a side you'll find some weird buzz tracking dillentantisms by nalpas.
"different bussiness, i'm feeling it. street music - goin' on dark!" (bailey on bbc 1xtra)
"three powerful productions from the house of alphacut." (debug)
alphacut 005
done in october 2006, limited to 555, white 12" vinyl, including ten locked grooves a1society suckers & mze fight b1iaka noloop b2cycom down the drain
alphacut strikes back with three deadly weapons of sound, residing somewhere between drum&bass, breakcore, drumfunk and fake-swing. destroying musical borders as usual, the fifth release is darker, faster and much more broken than the ones before. how can this be possible? mmh, just take a listen!
"there are three very evily rocking dark drum&bass tracks, which may be a match for something happening between alpha omega and intasounds. definately a must for all seeking for drumn&bass, which is standing widely besides the scene but having monumental deepness." (debug)
alphacut 004
done in may 2005, limited to 444, white 12" vinyl, 5 locked grooves a1nalpas bad thing a2hi-lar prod 692 b1mze waterbwoy b2jakin boaz jaguarundi
we are still here. don't care what all the others are proclaiming. sit down, relax, we will help you against today's bad musical influences. because everyone is telling us that we do so, we have to believe and push it forward. even if all this should be a lie, the music will make it come true.
quite different styles on one 12inch, from idm to weird d&b and back. sometimes shameless, sometimes deep. hits you from behind.
"first three tracks point direct with broken beats and cut straightness into weirdness shortly touching tangofeeling and vibrating doing-doing attitude. hybrid anti-d'n'b that fights for itself by homaging certain deadlines of 4/4-drive. for these brain flashes: the best record of 2005!" (minor)
alphacut 003
done in march 2004, limited to 500, white 12" vinyl, 8 locked grooves a1bad matter jazzthing b1cycom rude bwoy lxc rmx
breaks, breaks, breaks. we introduce a nearly unknown and upcoming talent from berlin: bad matter, the lost soul of jungle from germany with his very first vinyl release. listen to it and you will remember former droppin' science kind-of-stuff, made of jazz breaks and tube basslines. alphacut 001 hit the advanced dancefloors across europe one year ago, and now the mighty 'rude bwoy' strikes back: lxc redisigned cycom's work into a dark metal soldier, forcing all sophisticated feet to dance.
"definately spreading even more fire than the releases number one and two. if drum&bass really is energetic music, then this way!" (png)
"build to shake the dancefloors of the republic." (raveline)
"alphacut is bangin drum and bass from germany. all of their releases to date have been drop and this one is no exception." (soundclash)
alphacut 002
done in feb. 2004, limited to 500, white 12" vinyl, 8 locked grooves a1mze vs lxc stick em up b1hi-lar prod 055 b2hp.stonji reej
after a short break alphacut strikes back with this 3-track vinyl, supporting once again and surely not the last time up and coming artists from all over europe. lxc is cooperating with newcomer mze from leipzig, hi-lar is experiencing his first vinyl release and the hp.stonji guys are coming to open your ears for some odd electronics.
"the most challenging drum&bass tracks from germany for a long time - a must!" (debug)
"definately that kind of drum&bass, for which i haven't got everything else to my ears for years. nice and courageous release." (png)
"this is primetime stuff for advanced dancefloors!" (future music)
alphacut 001
done in jan. 2003, limited to 500, white 12" vinyl, handnumbered a1cycom rude bwoy b1buzz powerplant b2lxc eko jakin boaz rmx
even 3 different artist clash together on the first alphacut record: the triangle between hamburg, dortmund and leipzig became spread and shows alphacut's openness and range. the direction of music is mainly thought for the dancefloor, however nevertheless also for the brains. there are breaks, drops and other weird stuff - whatever the sequencer spits out to make your feet busy again.
"no dumb hardcore, but blessed with the spice and the roughness of a record from the underground. amen." (dhyana)
"for rude boys and beat digger" (ouk)
"pleasingly far away from average british stuff" (repertoire)

cj weaver
appears djing, released on absys and zardonic netlabels, located at washington dc (us), runs ms/cjweavermusic
a relative newcomer to the scene, cj weaver has been consistently pumping out drum&bass tunes on the deeper and more experimental tip. this washington dc based producer has lined up a fair amount of releases for 2010 on several well respected labels such as tech:noir, buried audio, influenza minus, and many more. by patching together his diverse influences and recording virtually everything he hears around him, he has developed a significant back catalogue, covering a wide variety of music styles from ethnic halftime stompers and minimal dub all the way to dancefloor filling rollers, and everything in between.
concept one
located at paris (fr), but globetrotting every now an then, catch him at his soundcloud
concept one aka jules bertier stepped into the sounds of minimal techno and dub music at the age of 14. after moving to dublin and first steps in djing, he starts going to drum and bass nights put on by the irish label bassbin and the reach drum and bass crew. his interest for music and particularly for drum and bass did not stop to grow till then: he started producing and organizing nights with the breakbeat exploration crew in paris.
martsman
appears djing, plays strange but friendly d&b, released on med school offshore, bassbin's breakin, counter intelligence, subtle audio, plainaudio and exegene, located at berlin (de), runs martsman.de
martsman has developed a unique musical style which extends the current perception of drum&bass with his affection for prominent basslines and stumbling breaks in combination with glitchy edits and bleepy minimalism. debuting on the new york based offshore in 2005, he released on smaller as well as established labels like alphacut or counter intelligence in the following years. for 2008, tracks on warm mommunications and hospital's doughter med school attract the attention of a steadily growing audience, also from outside the d&b scene.
book martsman
paranoid society
appear live, play experimental deep & schizophrenic d&b, released on modern urban jazz and syncopathic, located at tallinn (ee), run paranoidsociety.net
paranoid society is an alliance of intelligent music and visual arts. idm, vector and arts for life - those words you'll find by browing their website's html header. even there you see a clan of future addicts doing retrospective things and tellings by them. all their works have this kind of schizophrenia involved: even the music by the group's breakbeat mastermind creep. he is constantly looking back to the nineties for deepness and variety, but at the same time heading for 2097 with impressively futuristic sounds and fx, it seems as if this man is traveling time and space to get back to 95 and steel some seqences right out of the studios of source direct or photek. so, we stay speechless and unable to do anything but looking forward to even more productions from out there estonia.
book paranoid society
mze
appears live, plays sometimes straight sometimes chopped up d&b plus a lick of idm lately, released on alphacut only, located at leipzig (de), runs mze.pltn.org
mze is an up&coming artist straight out of thuringia (the shire of east germany, hehe), still feeling at home in its local scene. leipzig? whatever should be going on there? he is an addicted home producer forgetting everything around when doing his beats & basses. sounds like strictly nerd stuff - but he is sill in love with drumnbass – ooh. we surely have to expect fresh & innovative stuff from this guy, by the way: this should be a matter of course these days, isn't it?
book mze
unquote
appears djing, plays some deep d&b 2step and halfstep sound, released on hospital and 31, located at saint petersburg (ru), runs ms/unquoteru
seva unquote is another newcomer to the global drum&bass scene, who received his analogue media solo debut by noone else than alphacut records.
this charismatic guy already gained alot of attention - even if his style is still about to develop, and about to perceived in all its complexity. so, there is a dark tune like "ugly face of war" as well as the deep and positiv collaboration "hours have no reverse motion" with his comrade mr. sizef, which just got released on no other imprint than hospital! at the moment, seva is writing more tunes, expecting support by labels such as 31 records and the upcoming minimal d&b home called influenza minus. make sure to follow unquote's steps!
book unquote
macc
appears live, plays handmade drumfunk, released on outsider, subtle audio, counter intelligence, 13 music, breakin, plainaudio, syncopathic, transmute & subvert central, located at london (uk), runs ms/maccmusic
macc is a producer who is equally interested in both the programmed and live aspect of modern music. as a programmer he looks to create live-sounding drums and other instruments, while as a drummer he seeks to play in a way that could be thought of as 'programmed'. to this end he will program tracks using a computer, then learn to play them the same as they were programmed.
macc does not dj, he instead prefers to play his own music as a continuous and flowing live performance, with the drums being his main instrument. these live shows have been causing people to go crazy all over, including belgium, holland, ireland, london, and several incendiary shows in croatia. expect to hear live versions of releases on labels such as paradox's outsider music label, vibez recordings and up-and-coming dutch label counter intelligence amongst others.
book macc
throttler
appears live, plays dark & hard d&b, released on killing sheep, nasdia and no room for talent, located at athens (gr), runs ms/djthrottler
with a 90ies background straight out off a chocolate box with all ups and downs, it wasn’t until 2002, before throttler began to kick his mixture of dark, hard and fast, constantly alternating music, made of notorious landscapes and techy dancefloor breakbeat treatment. not only had he released a bunch of vinyls until now - even the press like knowledge and soundmaker got attracted to his productions - both the solo stuff and his collaborations with female vocalist lowbss. looking forward to forthcoming material and worldwide live appearances, we are excited to see whats up next at throttleversum.

snaper
appears live and djing, plays cinematic drumfunk, released on exegene, black hoe and ipc profiles, located at kiskunmajsa (hu), runs ms/thesnaper
originating from a small town in hungary, lonesomeness drove snaper to listen to stuff like the omnipresent wormhole album. producing for 10 years now, his works evolved from straight techno bassdrums into more and more drum&bass. with a love for the early sampler's sound, chopped breaks, deep textures, he found a world beneath neurofunk and other modern plastic styles. his focus is on the drums and minimalist bass sounds, spiced with old movie & crime snippets and sampled funk. the goal is a very cinematic sound beyond dancefloor usage, breaks breaks breaks and lots of edits. he took his way into drumfunk heaven through the digital world, having releases on exegene, ipc and black hoe. alphacut 11 is one more proof that snaper found his own sound this year: drumfunk.
book snaper
randomer
appears live, plays heavy & original d&b, released on audio freaks and med school, located at london (uk), runs ms/randomerdnb
rohan walder aka randomer attempts to transcend the status quo of dnb in every release. he manages to stay faithful to the structures that keep ravers heads rolling, while constantly evolving his sound to encompass many different influences and textures. randomer debuted earlier this year with the randomer ep on dubstep label audio freaks, and followed this up with his drum&bass introduction on medschool's new blood ep and his first dnb solo outing on medschool 11. expect hybrid, heavy and unique vibes.
book randomer
line 47
appears live, plays idm, dubstep, d&b and breakcore, released on ad noiseam, terminal dusk and sonicterror, located at louisville (us), runs line47.com
line 47 has been creating music since 1994. beginning as a percussionist in an experimental noise post-rock band, scott moved into technological realms and began to dabble in electronics and found sounds. in 1998 he began using his college roomate’s computer to manipulate sounds. since then his music has become much more advanced with heavy jungle influences as well as nintendo-esque melodies.

bop
appears as producer only, writes minimal atmospheric d&b, released on med school, kos.mos & subtle audio, located at saint petersburg (ru), runs iambop.com
bop is a drum&bass producer from russia. his music is a mixture of idm, ambient and minimal techno, which some people may call ‘microfunk’. by combining deep atmo-spheres and experimental beats bop gets his unique intellectual sound for your mind and soul. with heavy dj support by lynx, icr, code, nu:tone, dissident and many more he is just about to drop his own label microcircuit: a free drumfunk & leftfield drum&bass netlabel.
mendelayev
appears live, playes experimental d&b and idm, released on plainaudio, art-tek, acidsamovar and syncopathic, located in moscow (ru), runs ms/mendelayevbeats
drumfunk from russia? for those who haven’t had the possibitly to witness it: if there is a new melting pot of experimental drum&bass production, then it is based in eastern europe. and if there is one outstanding producer between all those upcoming beatmashers and clickthrashers, it is mendelayev, who’s name has to be dropped first. pretty much unnoticed by good old bass island uk and its followers, mikhail kazanok has already released two (!) longplayers full of high-precision drum editing and crystal-clear soundscapes. both albums on art-tek as well as on acid samovar are great collections of anything imaginable between idm, breakcore, drumfunk and beyond. definately a must check-out!
alpha omega
appears as producer only, writes d&b and breaks, released tons of stuff on labels like reinforced, thermal, outbreak, soothsayer and skunkrock, located at kildare (ir), runs ms/colinlindo
alpha omega a.k.a colin lindo a.k.a nubian mindz has been constantly pushing the boundaries of cutting edge drum and bass since his groundbreaking debut release, outer dimensions, on the equally groundbreaking & legendary reinforced imprint back in 1996. since then he has gone on to forge a universal respect within the scene & has firmly established his presence on the d&b industry not only in uk, but also on the state side. now going full circle & returning to his dj'ing & soundsystem background, alpha omega will continue to push the boundaries & continue his astonishing musical development.
sumone
appears live, plays various styles from deep d&b to wild idm stuff, released on planet mu, sprengstoff, mash, black track, aural carnage and zion's gate, located at indianapolis (us), runs ms/sumone317
sumone's musical interests did develope from hardcore punk, grindcore and industrial to techno, jungle and breakcore in 1995, listening to stuff from remarc to alec empire, falling in love with the 'harder wild amen programming styles'. some excursions in djing drum&bass and production with some free software followed. finally, 2005 was the year to take off: five releases on vinyl, and more are about to come as we speak. by the way he's an addicted live performer, providing various styles from deep and slow drum and bass to weird and ultra-fast idm choppage. catch him live when he's near your town, won't regret!

lxc
appears djing mostly, plays very various styles from ambient to hardcore, but tight d&b mostly, released on offshore, subtle audio, plainaudio, santorin and phantomnoise, located at leipzig (de), runs ms/lxc808
lxc is the man when it comes to hardcore drum&bass and weird electronics from leipzig. looking back to early sonic experiments with 8bit bassdrums back in 1993, he made it to releases on labels such as death$ucker, phantomnoise, santorin and plainaudio. upcoming stuff on offshore, subtle audio and sozialistischer plattenbau are promising to continue a path of an unique sound and fx design.
in 2003, alphacut records was launched, providing drum'n'bass, breakcore, so-called idm and further trash. under the flag of d.i.y., lxc is a&r, producer, cutting engineer, graphic designer and distributor, all in one person. not to forget, there are activities as promoter since 1999, bringing not quantity but quality to dancefloors all over leipzig. party series like strukturbruch or bassmaessage prove it, featuring international acts and loads of various styles. the future won't be silent!

society suckers
appear live, play a crazy mash of pogo trash rave breakcore opera, released lux nigra, mental ind, mash, peace off, amex, kool.pop and ohm52, located at berlin (de), run society-suckers.com
the society suckers make frantic, precisely arranged psychedelic pogo trash music. born out of a frustration with emotionless dance music, 1997's debut "anti-carnivore" on kool.pop featured their trademark ultrahigh frequency melodies and precisely arranged hyper breakbeats, becoming a breakcore standard before the genre had a name. their live shows blend focused turntable skills with emotionally charged gear tormenting - it's a manic combination of breakcore opera, rave hooks, pogo anthems and structural mayhem. they have a long history of performing in europe and recently north america, with artists such as venetian snares, dj scud, patric catani, kid606, din-st, dj/rupture, hrvatski, drop the lime, and melt banana.

appears djing, plays straight but leftfield d&b, released on plainaudio, dunkelbunt and sellout, located at hamburg (de), runs iaka.plainaudio.com
iaka released his first acidtracks on coloured vinyl in 1993. despite his indian roots, he escaped the back-then trendy goa-vibes and instead got involved with drum'n'bass. in 1997, he founded plain productions in order to freely distribute his musical ideas to other like-minded fellows, without having to compromise. today's productions by iaka are marked by a great love of detail and well-balanced arrangements. the foundation for his own blueprint of drum'n'bass is the modulation of sounds and beats. that's why there often are complex drum patterns and demanding beat structures in his tracks. in hamburg, he is mostly known as a dj and as one of the people organising the drumbule-parties. there, he regularly surprises people with two fisted club-sets, which stand in sharp contrast to his own productions.

buzz
appears live, plays deep but kicking d&b, released on plainaudio, exegene and touchin down, located at frankfurt (de), runs buzz.plainaudio.com
buzz found his fascination for producing music in the the mid 90's inspired by the records of artists like dj krust, tricky, optical & photek. he quickly did realize the possibilities of recording & sampling and started his first productions which were spread via the infamous 'subway'-website. in 2001 he gave his debut on alphacut recordings with his 'powerplant' track what gave him the boost to push his musical development with new energy forwoard. 2005 he transformed with his mates (cycom, iaka & flowpro) plainproductions into a complete netlabel called plainaudio & got after his 'soulburn' release immediately singned to other labels like touchin down and exegene. buzz' tracks - often abstract, frightening and gloomily sinister - show a great love of detail. power, movement and complexity are the key criteria which constitute his style and the thickly layered and interwoven samples create a compact, yet stormy and intriguing sound. his music is marked by reggae & dubvocals, feedback-delays and subsonic basslines, which melt with funk beats in his constantly well-heated sound-reactor.
